Sculptural Felted Vessels
Explore the tactile art of wet felting and mixed-media integration.
Service Description
In this workshop, we will create a unique, textured vessel to hold a tea lite using a resist to form a hollow form. What You Will Learn: - The 3D Resist Technique: How to layer wool roving around a template to create a seamless, hollow cylinder. - Mixed-Media Integration: Techniques for "trapping" glass gems or stones within the wool fibers to create glowing "windows"; or decorative bumps. - Surface Texturing: the fulling process to achieve a sturdy finish while maintaining sculptural details. All required materials and equipment will be provided. We will use high quality merino wool roving in natural white. Glass gems will be used for the inlays. Some wet felting experience would be helpful but a patient beginner can easily create a beautiful vessel. The workshop will run over the lunch hour so please bring a snack and beverage.
